Caregiver Meal Preparation in the Home Care for SeniorsYou don't need to be a doctor, registered nurse, a certified nursing assistant or a home health aid to experience the self-fulfillment of helping a person live a life of independence by remaining in their home. To be a caregiver for At Home Preferred, we are looking for people that are honest, dependable and have a genuine, inherent interest in helping others. If you have those essential characteristics, we would like to meet you.

At Home Preferred provides non-medical help in the home, such as meal preparation, transportation, light housekeeping, helping people move about, and/or medication reminders.

Our caregivers are not required to be certified by the State of Indiana; however, we do put our people through an extensive interview, screening and training process. If you are interested in learning more about a home care job with At Home Preferred, the first step is to apply online. Once we review your application, we will schedule you for an appointment at our Indianapolis home office. Each caregiver will be subjected to the following screening guidelines:

  • Thorough face-to-face interview
  • Indiana state criminal background check
  • National and state sex offender registries
  • Medicare/Medicaid fraud & abuse
  • 10-panel drug screen
  • Complete work history verification
  • Minimum of two professional references
  • Standardized competency testing
  • TB skin test

Our caregivers also go through an orientation that prepares them to be successful when taking on assignments with our clients.
